For years, shipping companies have used inflatable rubber dunnage bags, lumber cribbing, scrap lumber and other forms of costly dunnage to provide a tight stow in the holds of open hatch vessels and in overseas containers. Unfortunately for shippers, the cost of these bracing methods has been increasing dramatically in recent years.
ITW Shippers dunnage air bags effectively brace goods against the potentially damaging motions caused by pitch, roll, heave, sway and surge of a ship at sea.
ITW Shippers air bags are positioned in voids and slack areas, then inflated with compressed air. They hold cargo in place by exerting outward pressure against cargo on either side, or between cargo and bulkhead. This method of load securement is much less labor intensive then methods such as the construction of wood bracing. In addition, shippers can save significantly in material costs over rubber dunnage bags and wood bracing products.
